New ‘Midnight’ Limited Edition Prints Available Now
I am absolutely thrilled with how the new ‘Midnight’ Limited Edition Prints have turned out. Here are some shots of getting the 9 and the 16 square prints ready before they go to @thedoorwaygallery in Stillorgan, Co. Dublin. The fresh, uplifting colours on the squares celebrate precious moments and new beginnings, and I’m delighted with how each individual square is raised up on 10mm foam board (hidden, to create that ‘floating’ effect) and the play of light with the 3D for

Niall's New Series 'Midnight' delivered to The Doorway Gallery
I was so thrilled to bring my new ‘Midnight’ mixed media paintings (including 22.5 carat gold leaf) into The Doorway Gallery, in South Frederick St., Dublin. I have started initially with one in a 16 square format and the other one is in a 9 square format. I loved creating this new series and working in this style. Celebrating precious moments and new beginnings, it feels fresh, vibrant, uplifting, fluid and arouses curiosity. Delighted with the 3D aspect as well and the play

Commissioning a Painting: 'La Pietra Miliare'
There is a certain thrill when you are working on a piece and you know where it is going and that it has deep personal meaning for the people who have asked for the painting. Of course it also brings an edge to the work and a certain drive to ensure it is really special for all involved … no pressure …!!!!! Here is an example of a recent commission. ‘La Pietra Miliare’ (Italian for ‘Milestones’ / significant life moments) Mixed media on twelve 12 x 12 x 3cm square wooden p

Commissioning a Painting: Jumping Over Ben Bulben
Here is another example of a recent commission. ‘Jumping over Ben Bulben’ Mixed media on canvas board, with 22.5-carat goldleaf, in a white wooden tray frame. Final dimensions: 91 x 76 x 6cm framed. This was a very special painting which captured a favourite family moment for the client, with two sons and a daughter, while in their teens, jumping off the wall at Drumcliff Cemetery, Co. Sligo, where W.B. Yeats is buried. The moment was captured in a superb photo which they gav

Supporting The Caroline Foundation & Art Therapy Project NYC
Two wonderful charities that I have supported for the last 4-5 years approached me at around the same time this year for their respective events in October & November and I wanted to do something pretty special for them. Drawing from a Banksy style mural I did last year, I wanted to paint something positive, uplifting, inspiring, but that also had “an edge” and references to resilience and inner strength. Creating 'Dublin Bay Wonder' was a new challenge, a new creative chal

Delighted to support the Scoop Foundation
Really thrilled to be invited to support the SCOOP Foundation for their novel and interesting #OUTOFTHEBOX art auction. They have asked over 100 artists to create original artworks on pizza boxes, skateboards, trainers and a handful of mirrors …!!! I know .. crazy idea … but I love it …!!! The event was run in the RHA on the evening of 28th March … it was a cracking night …!!!. Here are a few pics of what I did with the old mirror that SCOOP gave me … I have to say … I love

Niall’s art now in The Doorway Gallery, Dublin
I’m really thrilled that my art will now be available through The Doorway Gallery, South Fredrick Street, Dublin. This progressive and innovative gallery is spearheaded by the dynamic duo of Denise Donnelly and Deirdre Carroll. I’m really looking forward to this exciting and no doubt very creative new chapter. I would also like to acknowledge the wonderful experiences, support and guidance I’ve had over the last 10 years with Martin & Jay in the Sol Gallery, D’Olier St, forme

Re-imagining my squares ….
I jumped at the opportunity to create this new take/re-imagined approach to painting squares. Having been approached to do a commission for a light-filled room close to the sea and a dramatic coastline close to Dublin, I was immediately drawn to the potential of the colours, energy and freshness of my classic ‘Revive’ series for the space. I was keen to capture the vibrancy and form of my classic squares but create them in a new way, make them bigger and see how they would wo

A new & exciting Journey - Persia meets Donegal …!!
This probably has been coming for a while, but the experiences of the last 18 months have brought me into a creative world of ‘adventure’ via vintage Persian carpet designs and childhood memories of ‘magic carpets’. To my surprise this journey has taken me to Co. Donegal in the late 1800s, with its rich history of carpet making and their early weaving techniques and motifs, remarkably similar to those used by carpet makers in Turkey and the Persian Peninsula. My new collect

I always wanted to do a Banksy style mural …!!!
I always wanted to do a ‘Banksy-style' piece on one of the walls at home (or somewhere else!!), and an opportunity arose recently, and I decided to go for it …!! Our next-door neighbour was due her third child in late October / early November 2021, to join her two older sisters (3 & 5 yrs old). With permission from the neighbours, a couple of weeks ago I spray-painted a piece with two girls and two balloons. The girl on the left is ‘adapted’ from the classic Banksy, and I cre

Dressing a Glasshouse in the Wineport Lodge
Well, I’m really, really thrilled with how the glasshouse at the Wineport Lodge has turned out. A big thank you to the Wineport for the opportunity to collaborate with them and create this splash of colour at their wonderful venue. We wanted to create a wee bit of magic and something that would be ultra positive and uplifting with one of their new glasshouses, installed to create socially distant & protected spaces for customers. Right from the beginning I was drawn to creat

Lights & Mirrors - Bringing my squares into a new dimension!
After a year of exploring, developing and refining this new concept I am thrilled to release my new ‘Infinity Series’. I’m buzzing with the way you can, through the use of LED lights and mirrors, see up to 8 repeats of the squares going back into the frame ..!! They are 50 x 50cm framed, with a 6cm deep, although it looks like you can see nearly 1 metre into the frame ...!! It has to be seen to be believed ..!! I believe they are pretty unique in the Irish market and lend

Absolutely loved Hong Kong
Well, that goes down as one of the ‘great experiences’ …!! It was an absolute honour to have my art on show with the Sol Art Gallery at the recent Affordable Art Fair Hong Kong. The show was run in the really impressive Hong Kong Convention Centre right down by the harbour and featured 115 galleries from around the world. The buzz in the exhibition was electric throughout the weekend. It was really great to see some really fabulous art there and meet a whole range of people
